Micro Metalsmiths operates a BSI accredited ISO 9001 quality assurance system which covers both design and material traceability.

The primary aim of the standard is to assure company-wide compliance and understanding of every aspect of an incoming order, from specification to packaging, so that total customer satisfaction is achieved.

Microwave electrical testing
The microwave laboratory performs SNA tests up to 50 GHz and VNA tests up to 40 GHz. Results may be supplied in graphical or tabular form for individual components or assemblies. All measurement equipment is calibrated so that results are traceable to national standards.

Mechanical Inspection
Visual and dimensional inspection is performed both on-line and before dispatch. Measuring equipment is calibrated and traceable to national standards in an approved rotational pattern. Inspection may be on a total or a statistical basis to meet customers' requirements.

The bulk of dimensional inspection is carried out on Computer Controlled Measurement Machines (CMM's) and the results are catalogued and computer-stored for subsequent investigation or for the establishment of long term trend information.

Temperature testing
The company has the ability to subject components to temperatures varying from -60°C to +500°C.

Where appropriate, microwave and temperature testing can be performed simultaneously.

This dual capability may be required where very lightweight components may experience geometric deformation through temperature variations which might affect microwave performance.

Pressure testing
Pressure test and leak rate requirements are built in to many specifications. The company performs these tests to individually agreed standards.

External specialist testing
For special test requirements the company works with external specialist laboratories.
