| REQUIREMENT: Bilsom Sentry, in introducing a new range of safety helmets with built-in breathing apparatus, were seeking to reduce their dependence on machined and brazed assemblies. WHY MICRO METALSMITHS? Micro Metalsmiths worked with the customer's designers to redraw the unit as an investment casting with minimal machining. As a bonus, the weight of the component was reduced by 40% and the unit was supplied machined, plated and vacuum impregnated ready for assembly thereby further reducing the customer's in-house handling cost. |
